When using any of the EBSCO databases (including SuperSearch, CINAHL, PsychInfo, ERIC, and many others), you will be able to access your EBSCO account. With this account, you can easily save sources as you search, create folders for different projects, save successful searches to come back to later, and more.

No matter which database you are using, you will have access to your EBSCO account and any items saved from other EBSCO databases will be available in your folder. For example, articles saved from a PsychInfo search will remain in your folder and if you access your account from SuperSearch, those PsychInfo articles will be there.

Accessing the EBSCO account is easy, and does not require you to sign up or create a separate EBSCO account. With most databases, once you are signed into the database, you will automatically be signed into your EBSCO account and should be able to access your folder.  SuperSearch is the only database that does require the extra step of clicking on a "Sign-In" link first before accessing your folders/account.

How to Access via SuperSearch

When you log onto SuperSearch, you should see the option to "Sign In" next to the "Folder" icon in the upper right corner of the page:

After selecting "Sign-In", you may be prompted again to login using your C-N email and password (or it may automatically give you access to your account). Once signed in, you should be able to click on the "Folder" icon to access your saved items:

NOTE: If for some reason you receive an error message after following the "Sign-in" link, try clicking on the "Folder" icon. This often resolves the issue, and you will be able to access your account.

Accessing from other EBSCO databases:

From other EBSCO databases, you should be able to click on the "Folder" icon once you are in the database and access your account.

Here is an example of what it might look like from another database (Cochrane Library):

You should then be able to access your account to view saved items, saved searches, etc.

Adding Items to your EBSCO Folder

After conducting a search, click on the title of the item that you want to save. Look for the "Add to folder" icon under "Tools" on the right side of the page:

If you have created any custom folders, you will need to select which folder you want to save the item to (If you have not set up custom folders, it will automatically be added to the general folder.):

Once added to a folder, the icon will now show "Remove from Folder" to indicate that it has been successfully added to your folder:

The item will now be in your EBSCO folder. If you want to move it to a different folder, just select the item and the "Move to" option:

Create Custom Folders

Creating custom folders is easy and also a good way to keep different papers and projects organized.

Under "My Custom", select "New" to create a new folder:

Create a name for the new folder or even designate it as a sub-folder:

The newly created folder will now show up under "My Custom" folders and you can begin moving items to the folder as well as saving new items:

Saving Searches

With your Ebsco account, you can also save searches. There are two different ways to save searches.

After conducting a search, look for "Search History" below the search box:

Your recent searches will appear in the "Search History":

From here, delete any of the searches from this list that you do not want to save, then click "Save Searches/Alerts":

From here, you will be prompted to name the saved search and provide a description (optional):

The newly saved search will now appear under your "Saved Searches".

To view the saved search, select "Retrieve Saved Search":

To view any of the saved searches, select "Rerun":

Saving Persistent Links to Searches

Another way to save searches is to save persistent links.

After conducting a search, look for the "Share" option above the search results:

Under "Add to folder" you can either save a link to the current page of results or save the full search.

(This is also where you will find the Permalink to the search. This is the link you will want to save in order return to the search.)

Once you add the current search to your EBSCO folder, the search link will be saved under "Persistent Links to Searches":

To view the search, just copy and paste the link to your browser.
